About Shane Mahoney
Shane Mahoney is widely recognized as a wildlife biologist, conservationist, and thought leader. A former employee of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, he served as Chief of Wildlife Research for the province from 1994-2003, when he accepted the position of Executive Director of Sustainable Development and Strategic Science. Today, Shane is the founder and CEO of Conservation Visions Inc., a private company and global wildlife initiative that has recently announced the launch of the Wild Harvest Initiative, a multi-year project that will measure and analyze the biomass of wild animal protein harvested each year by citizens of the U.S. and Canada, assessing both its nutritional and economic value, as well as the ecological and financial costs of replacing this food through standard agricultural and domestic livestock production.
