In Indigenous communities around the world, women’s voices often remain in the margin. Samela Sateré is working to change that.

Samela, with support from the Amazonia Indigenous Women’s Fellowship Program, is working to strengthen and preserve the culture of Brazil’s Sataré-Mawé women by organizing workshops and other opportunities for them to exchange ancestral knowledge.

The Amazonia Indigenous Women’s Fellowship Program, an initiative of Our Future Forests–Amazonia Verde project, supports Indigenous women leaders and the key roles they play in local, national and regional conservation decision-making processes.
