Editorial Methodology
How we research, write, review, and publish health content. Last reviewed: June 2026.
Evidence Grading
Every piece of content on MotherNature.com carries an evidence grade — displayed prominently so readers know how strong the underlying science is.
Strong Evidence
Supported by multiple randomized controlled trials (RCTs) or systematic reviews/meta-analyses from Cochrane, NIH, or major peer-reviewed journals.
Moderate Evidence
Supported by well-designed observational studies, smaller RCTs, or expert consensus without strong contradictory evidence.
Limited Evidence
Supported primarily by traditional use, animal studies, or preliminary human research. More research is needed.
Not Rated
Opinion, lifestyle advice, or content where evidence grading is not applicable. Clearly labelled as such.
Citation Standards
Tier 1 ★
PubMed-indexed peer-reviewed journals, NIH/NCI/NCCIH, Cochrane Collaboration, Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic. These are our preferred primary sources.
Tier 2
Well-established health institutions, government health agencies (CDC, FDA, WHO), academic medical centers with published research.
Tier 3
Expert opinion, manufacturer data (disclosed), traditional-medicine databases. Used sparingly and always labelled.
Authorship & Review
Every chapter, article, and product grade on MotherNature.com displays its author and reviewer. We use a two-stage model:
- 1.Author: Researches and writes the content. May be a specialist AI agent or a human contributor. All authors are disclosed with credentials or AI-disclosure.
- 2.Reviewer: An independent editor or credentialed human reviewer who checks factual accuracy, citation quality, and evidence grading before publication.
AI-generated content is disclosed on every relevant page per FTC guidelines and our commitment to editorial transparency.
